Ask your network to bar the lost SIM immediately, then secure every bank, e-wallet, email and social account linked to that number. Use only Globe, Smart or DITO’s official support channel. After the line is protected, request a replacement under the registered owner’s name.
A lost registered SIM is an account-security problem, not only a missing piece of plastic. Someone who receives your texts may be able to intercept OTPs or reset other accounts. Act even if the phone itself has a screen lock.
What to do in the first 15 minutes
- Use another trusted device. Open your carrier’s official app, typed website or verified support channel. Do not use a link sent by an unknown account.
- Request temporary barring or suspension. Tell the carrier the mobile number is lost or stolen. Ask what reference number proves the report was received.
- Secure money accounts. Contact banks, GCash, Maya and other e-wallets connected to the number. Change passwords from a clean device and sign out unknown sessions.
- Protect your main email. Change its password, review recovery methods and remove the lost number temporarily if the service allows a safer alternative.
- Mark the phone as lost. Use Apple Find My or Google’s device-finding service. Do not confront a suspected thief.
Globe, Smart and DITO support routes
Globe or TM
Globe says a lost line can be barred through a Globe Store and lists additional official contact options for some accounts. Its replacement requirements depend on prepaid or postpaid status and may include valid IDs, proof connected to the SIM and a notarized affidavit of loss. Check the current Globe SIM replacement guide before travelling to a store.
Smart or TNT
Smart directs the registered owner to a Smart Store for replacement and currently lists a valid government-issued ID among the requirements. Confirm the latest requirements on the official Smart SIM replacement page.
DITO
Use the DITO app’s 24/7 help chat, the official DITO website chat or call 185 from a DITO line. Ask support to suspend the lost line and give you the current replacement steps. Start from the official DITO Help Center.
“Paano i-block ang nawawalang SIM?” means “How do I block a lost SIM?” The important request is to bar or suspend the line, not merely block the handset in an app. Carrier requirements can change, so confirm them before preparing an affidavit or visiting a store.
Before requesting a replacement
Gather the registered owner’s valid ID, the mobile number, any SIM bed or eSIM record, recent account information and the carrier’s incident reference. Never post these documents publicly. A replacement should normally be handled by the registered owner or an authorised representative who meets the carrier’s requirements.
After the number is restored
- Check that calls and texts work before reconnecting financial apps.
- Reset passwords and recovery codes that may have been exposed.
- Review bank and e-wallet transactions from the time of loss.
- Enable a device PIN, biometrics and app-specific security controls.
- Keep the carrier case number and any police or affidavit records.
